Keeping your mobile office trailer cool in the hot summer months is very important, as employees are much more productive when they have a comfortable environment! While air conditioning units are effective at keeping an office cold, running them 24/7 can get costly. Continue reading for a few other cost-effective ways to keep your office trailer cool and comfortable all summer long!
Change The Air Filter
When using an HVAC unit, it’s crucial to do regular maintenance to ensure it’s operating at peak efficiency. If your air filters are dirty and clogged, the cooling unit has to work harder to lower the temperature, which uses a lot more energy. By replacing the air filter every three months (or more frequently for dusty construction sites), your HVAC will work more efficiently and save you some money.
Office trailers are smaller structures, and it’s crucial to keep the door closed as much as possible. If you leave the door open for just a few minutes, you will lose a lot of cool inside air through the open doorway. Also, be sure to keep windows and blinds closed during the sunniest parts of the day, as sunshine can quickly warm up a small space. When it gets cooler at night, you can crack the window open for some fresh air if needed.
Shade can make a huge difference in the temperature of your office trailer, as direct sunlight will heat up the trailer no matter the material. If possible, set up the trailer in a nice shaded area to keep it as cool as possible during the hot afternoons.
Have you ever noticed how hot your computer or laptop gets after a few hours of continuous use? Computers and refrigerators give off a lot of heat, so remember to turn off your desktop and laptop every few hours to take a break and allow them to cool down. Also, keep these electronics away from the thermostat as they can cause a false reading on the internal temperature.
