About Allied Trailers

Since 1954, family owned and operated Allied Trailers has provided quality storage solutions for a wide variety of industries and businesses. More importantly, Allied has provided personalized, honest service and expert advice to our customers, the most important part of our history.

The Sherman family founded Allied in 1952 in Silver Spring, MD, as a used car dealership. In 1954, the car dealership merged with a neighboring utility trailer company, Allied Trailers. By 1956, the company expanded to sales of recreational vehicles (RVs) and travel trailers. After relocating to Queens Chapel, MD, in 1957, the business expanded again, selling used cars, renting utility trailers, and selling and renting camping trailers and recreational boats. With a large inventory and limited space, Allied rented a semi-van for extra storage. A customer inquired about renting the semi-van, and the rental trailer business of Allied Trailers was born. Eventually, the business focused solely on trailers. In the 1980s, Allied opened five new branches in and around Washington, DC, and initiated major corporate relationships with large companies.

In 1988, Allied opened Florida Trailer Sales' first office in West Palm Beach, FL. When Hurricane Andrew devastated the region in 1992, businesses turned to Florida Trailer Sales to rebuild. Allied's reputation continued to spread and sales soared. Soon, Florida Trailer Sales became Allied Trailers, which went on to open more locations on the East Coast.

Allied is proud to have grown from one sales location to 11 branches in four states. While our business has evolved over the last 50 years, the principles of attentive customer service, high-quality products, and hard work remain the same.
